04/18/11 - Cape San Blas by water

This was absolutely the best day of our vacation. We rented a 20' pontoon ($150.00 for the day off-season rate)and arrived to pick it up at 10:30. We had a picnic lunch and rented mask and snorkel for exploring the sea grass beds. We went to the tip of cape san blas. This is a beautiful beach asscessable only by boat. We spent the time shelling and having our picnic lunch. During lunch a group of dolphins played in the sand bas area for our entertainment. They were jumping and swimming very close to us and we have some fab pictures. After lunch we went down the bay to a snorkel spot Seahorse recommended to us. This was great fun and we made great finds. We found 2 huge shells with no creatures in them, so we got to keep them.   We saw horseshoe crab and lots of starfish. We found a werid animal that we later found out was called a sea hare. Despite the cost of $4.30 per gallon our fuel bill was $32.83.   Not bad for day.   We had a wonderful day.
